The "Black History" of Indigenous Schools in the United States: Indian Children Forced to Boarding and Speaking Their Mother Tongue Will Be Beaten by the US Government | Abstract | Schools
On September 5th, according to the Colorado History website in the United States, on September 1st, the Colorado History agency released an investigation summary that exposed the tragic experiences of Native Americans in federal boarding schools in Colorado and criticized the US government for ignoring the fact that Native Americans have been abused and killed for a long time.
The report states that the 14 page summary of the investigation reveals issues such as abuse and neglect of Native Americans in boarding schools, which have not been fully reported by US media and federal authorities for over a century.
The Rehabilitation Alliance for Indigenous Boarding Schools in the United States states that Indian children are forcibly kidnapped by US government agents and sent to schools hundreds of miles away. They may also be beaten, starved, or subjected to other forms of abuse for speaking their mother tongue.
The head of the investigation, Colorado archaeologist Holly Norton, stated that the release of this abstract is only a step towards revealing the harm suffered by Native Americans due to federal education policies in the United States.
