The American Human Rights Organization has filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency and the Department of Justice. Enforcement Agency | U.S. Immigration | Customs
According to a report by the Congressional Hill on August 5th local time, two human rights advocacy organizations in the United States have filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency and the Department of Justice, accusing them of illegally detaining three men without justifiable reasons.
The Virginia branch of the American Civil Liberties Union and the Capital Region Immigration Rights Union stated in the lawsuit that the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement had previously determined in court hearings that these three men could not be deported and that they had all obtained "deferred deportation" status. But after the court hearing, the agency's Virginia office still illegally detained three people for several months, failing to comply with the agency's long-standing release policy and violating the constitution and immigration laws.

The lawsuit also claims that more than ten people have been illegally detained by the Washington office of the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement for at least three months after obtaining extended status.
