The Ambassador to Germany responded that the German Minister stated the need to be vigilant about the risk of academic espionage among Chinese students studying abroad
On August 12th, the German newspaper Berlin published an interview with the newspaper's publisher Mayer, in which Ambassador Wu Zhen stated that "China is not a risk.".
Q: The Minister of Education and Research of the German Federal Government, Stark Wazinger, recently stated that there is a need to be vigilant about the risk of academic espionage among Chinese students studying in Germany. Are you surprised by this?
I have noticed the remarks made by the Minister of Education and Research of the German Federation. At the same time, the Federal Constitutional Protection Agency of Germany has recently issued a security alert, listing relevant Chinese agencies as intelligence agencies. These remarks and practices are hysterical and almost insane, and are a serious "fear of China" that needs to be properly treated. According to their logic, do German diplomats in China, international students studying in China, and Goethe Institutes also pose a spy risk to China? Some countries carry out large-scale surveillance, reaching deep into their own allies. There have been reports that they even monitored the highest level of Germany, but I have never heard of any security alerts issued by the German side. It can be seen that the so-called safety tips are purely political manipulation and do not bring any benefits. They will only poison the atmosphere of cooperation and stigmatize relevant groups. I would like to advise some people and institutions in Germany to manage their own affairs well, so that students can study with peace of mind.
