According to the CNN website, on August 1st local time, General Motors announced that it will recall over 900 vehicles worldwide due to the possibility of the vehicle's airbag inflation device exploding and sharp metal fragments posing a threat to occupants. The recalled models include some 2013 Chevrolet Camaro, Sonic, Volt, TRAX, and Buick Verano. According to reports, General Motors will recall 767 cars in the United States, 101 cars in Canada, and 46 cars in other countries.
It is reported that the inflation equipment for this batch of airbags is produced by Takada Corporation in Japan. According to documents from the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, in May of this year, a 2013 Chevrolet Camaro in Brazil experienced an airbag inflation device explosion. In 2020, General Motors recalled 7 million vehicles from 2007 to 2014 that were equipped with Takada airbags.
