Tan Tieniu elected as Vice Chairman of the Chinese Federation of Overseas Chinese
The first plenary session of the 11th Committee of the Chinese Federation of Overseas Chinese was held in Beijing on September 2nd.
According to Xinhua News Agency, the meeting elected Wan Lijun as the new Chairman of the Chinese Federation of Overseas Chinese through anonymous voting, with Liu Yiliang, Qi Zhi, Ji Bin, Li Feng, Li Zhanyong, Li Xingyu, Lian Xiaomin, Wu Jing, Wu Huanyan, Yu Guochun, Chen Jieying, Gao Feng, Guo Zhanli, Guo Qimin, Liang Mou, Cheng Hong, Cheng Xueyuan, Tan Tieniu as Vice Chairmen, and Chen Mai as Secretary General.
Tan Tieniu, Han nationality, born in Chaling, Hunan Province in October 1963, Secretary of the Party Committee of Nanjing University, Doctor of Engineering, academician of the CAS Member, foreign academician of the Royal Academy of Engineering, academician of the Academy of Sciences of Developing Countries, and foreign academician of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences.

Tan Tieniu obtained a bachelor's degree from Xi'an Jiaotong University in 1984, and a master's and doctoral degree from Imperial College London in 1986 and 1989, respectively. From 1989 to 1997, he worked at the University of Reading, UK, and returned to work in 1998. He has successively served as the director of the State Key Laboratory for Pattern Recognition of the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences, the director of the Institute of Automation, the deputy secretary-general of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the deputy president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the deputy director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
