In August this year, China Energy Construction Brazil celebrated the 5th anniversary of the commercial operation of the San Noronso Water Supply Project. Both China and Brazil agree that this important public opinion project, which is related to the well-being of Brazilian society, is an example of China Pakistan water engineering cooperation.
The San Noronso Water Supply Project is located in the city of Grand Valjean Paulista, S ã o Paulo state. Since its official commercial operation in July 2018, the project has provided safe and reliable clean water supply to nearly 2 million residents in seven cities in the region. During the peak period of project construction, more than 4000 job opportunities were created and municipal roads along the project were greatly improved.
Qi Zexu, General Manager of China Energy Construction Brazil and Chairman of San Noronso Water Supply System Co., Ltd., said at the commemoration ceremony that the past five years have been a stable contribution of China Energy Construction to the livelihood water supply of S ã o Paulo state, as well as a five year partnership between China and Brazil to deepen cooperation among BRICS countries.
"Chinese large enterprises come to Brazil to provide resources for investment, which is in line with the needs of Brazil and the state of S ã o Paulo," Marcelo, General Manager of San Norenzo Water Supply System Co., Ltd., told reporters.
Marcelo introduced that during the construction of the San Noronso water supply project in 2014 and 2015, Brazil was experiencing severe drought and a water crisis. Although the project was only officially put into operation in 2018, its water supply capacity of 6 cubic meters per second undoubtedly made a significant contribution to the state of S ã o Paulo.
Samantha Sosa, Deputy Director of the Department of Environment, Logistics and Infrastructure in S ã o Paulo, told reporters that the San Noronso Water Supply Project has provided efficient and high-quality services to the local area. "In 2019 and 2020, the S ã o Paulo metropolitan area experienced sparse rainfall, but we were not even aware of this. This was thanks to the safety of our integrated water supply system in the area. This system consists of eight large water plants, and the San Norenzo water supply project is one of them."
Andre Salcedo, President of S ã o Paulo Water Company, which is controlled by the state government of S ã o Paulo, stated that large cities require solutions for various livelihood services such as energy, water, solid waste treatment, and municipal transportation. "Our cooperation with China Nengjian Brazil is a step in this direction, and such projects can be expanded and improved in the S ã o Paulo state government's investment plan, thereby providing better services to the people of the entire state."
In addition to ensuring the smooth operation of the project and achieving good economic benefits, China Energy Construction Brazil Company has also carried out donations, volunteer services, and other activities in the communities, orphanages, and nursing homes where the project is located, supporting employee training, health and environmental protection, and extracurricular practice for students, achieving good social benefits in the local area.
Chinese Vice Consul General in S ã o Paulo, Tian Yuzhen, said that the San Noronso Water Supply Project is not only an important project of shared destiny and win-win cooperation between China and Pakistan, but also a vivid example of Chinese enterprises deeply cultivating the South American market and carrying out localized management and operation. For a long time, China has been able to take root in Brazil, cultivate meticulously, and closely combine China's manufacturing advantages with Brazil's actual needs to break through infrastructure bottlenecks, achieve better economic and social development, and Brazil's re industrialization process, setting a good example for Chinese enterprises to "go global" with high quality and fulfill their social responsibilities.
Sosa believes that the state of S ã o Paulo can leverage the expertise of companies such as China Energy Construction Corporation. "This kind of partnership not only brings in investment, but also essential technological exchange, making the state of S ã o Paulo increasingly modernized and bringing the best benefits to the environment and people."
