Taiwanese Youth Visiting Wenzhou, Zhejiang: Face to Face World Champion of Ground Throwing Teenagers | Throwing | World Champion
Wenzhou, August 16th (Xinhua) - "Teenagers from Taiwan are very interested and enthusiastic about ground throwing, hoping that they can actively participate in this sport in the future," said Guo Xiaomin, a sports teacher and ground throwing athlete at Zhejiang Industry and Trade Vocational and Technical College in an interview on August 16th.
On that day, the first Cross Strait Youth Warm Learning Summer Camp of "Meeting Zhejiang Industry and Trade to Build a New Dream" was held in Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province. More than 30 young people from Taiwan went to Zhejiang Industry and Trade Vocational and Technical College to experience the sport of throwing balls.
It is reported that ground throwing is a sport in which athletes from both sides compete by throwing the ball by hand on a designated field. As a ground thrower, Guo Xiaomin won two gold medals at the 5th World Women's Metal Ground Throwing Championships in 2006, achieving the breakthrough of zero gold medals in ground throwing in Chinese history. As of now, she has won a total of 12 world championships in ground throwing.

During the event, Guo Xiaomin first introduced the basic knowledge of ground throwing to Taiwanese teenagers and shared her game story. Subsequently, at the training ground, Guo Xiaomin taught them the movements and rules of throwing the ball hand in hand. Throwing, hitting, ranging, scoring... On the spot, Taiwanese teenagers were having a lot of fun and gradually mastering the essentials of this sport.
"This is my first time experiencing ground throwing, and it's also my first time getting up close to a world champion. It's really exciting," said Li Zixian from New Taipei City, Taiwan in an interview. "Ground throwing can exercise one's anti-interference ability and is a sport suitable for all ages and beneficial for physical and mental health." After returning to Taiwan, I will share my observations and gains with my family and friends. ".

In the afternoon of that day, more than 30 Taiwanese teenagers also participated in a fun ground throwing game. In Guo Xiaomin's view, competitions are a link to promote cultural exchange between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait. "Not only students, but also I hope that more Taiwanese sports teachers can come to the mainland to learn how to throw balls, so that this sport can be popularized in Taiwan. This way, we can regularly hold ball throwing competitions between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait in the future, and deepen our friendship through these competitions.".

The reporter learned that Taiwanese teenagers participating in this summer camp will also go to Wenzhou Museum, Jiangxinyu, Wuma Street and other places to taste Wenzhou cuisine and experience Wenzhou culture. "Many children come to the mainland for the first time and are curious about the life, culture, and other aspects of the mainland. I believe that through these days of activities, they can truly feel the 'family ties between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait'," said Chen Weibang, a summer camp leader from Taiwan, in an interview.
