Fuzhou, July 23 (Xinhua) - Touching the vicissitudes of history and changes in the development trajectory of Fujian's shipping industry; Visiting the "Mazu Hometown" to understand the common belief culture between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait; From July 16th to 22nd, the 20th Taiwan Youth Thousand Person Summer Camp Fujian Navigation Culture Branch gathered enthusiastic young people from both sides of the Taiwan Strait in the scorching summer, exploring the ancient "Haisi" relics in Jiurishan, Quanzhou.
It is reported that this event attracted 65 college students from nearly 40 universities on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, as well as those from Fujian, Taiwan, and Qingdao. They went to Fuzhou, Putian, Quanzhou, Xiamen, and other places in Fujian to immerse themselves in the maritime culture of the same origin and roots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait.
The opening day of the summer camp happened to be my third anniversary in mainland China. For Taiwanese youth Zheng Yaling, this summer camp has a special significance. Three years ago, she left Taiwan to study in mainland China, placing herself on an unfamiliar yet even broader stage. Upon arriving in Fujian, she experienced a particularly warm cultural atmosphere.
"I believe that culture can transcend time, space, and geography." Zheng Yaling said that a maritime cultural journey in Fujian can not only explore unique scenery and customs, but also deepen her understanding of the cultural similarities between Fujian and Taiwan. Young students from both sides of the Taiwan Strait should carry forward their precious cultural heritage and integrate it into cultural and economic exchanges between the two sides.
On Meizhou Island in Putian, accompanied by the sound of bells and drums during the "Three Sacrifices" ceremony in the Mazu Ancestral Temple, campers on both sides of the strait clasped their hands together, gazing at the Mazu statue and performing the worship ceremony. Taiwanese youth say that this is a very familiar atmosphere and feeling, with every drumming and ringing of the bell, it feels like returning home.
During the event, campers from both sides of the Taiwan Strait also boarded the first large cruise rescue ship, the "Haixun 06", to observe joint sea and air search and rescue exercises. It is reported that over the past 20 years, the Fujian Provincial Maritime Search and Rescue Center has carried out more than 100 joint search and rescue operations with the Taiwan Maritime Search and Rescue Department, successfully rescuing more than 1000 people in distress at sea, paving a safe, reassuring, and convenient golden waterway for cross-strait exchanges and exchanges.
"Through this summer camp, I have met many beautiful people and seen many beautiful things. I believe that young people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait have gained precious friendship from it." Taiwanese youth Zhou Binghong said, "In short, the relationship between Fujian and Taiwan is deep, and families on both sides are close."
The campfire evening at the summer camp has also become a carnival to bring the hearts of young people from both sides of the Taiwan Strait closer together. The campers sang and danced, playing games together, with warm and brilliant smiles on their faces, appearing particularly dazzling in the red flames.
Since 2004, the Thousand Taiwanese Youth Summer Camp has been successfully held for 20 sessions, with more than 20000 Taiwanese youth participating, becoming one of the brand projects for youth exchanges across the Taiwan Strait.
