Sun Shougang, member of the Standing Committee of the Henan Provincial Party Committee and Deputy Governor, was held accountable for the particularly serious fire accident in Anyang on November 21st
On August 29th, Beijing, Xinhua News Agency reported that with the approval of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection has conducted a case review on the disciplinary violations of Sun Shougang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Henan Provincial Party Committee and Deputy Governor, in the "11.21" particularly serious fire accident in Anyang, Henan.
After investigation, it was found that Comrade Sun Shougang, as a member of the Standing Committee and Deputy Governor of Henan Province, was responsible for emergency management, coordinating fire rescue work, and implementing the deployment of the Party Central Committee on safety production and fire safety work. He did not effectively promote the rectification of deviations in the coordinated development and safety of Anyang City, did not effectively supervise Anyang City and relevant departments to carry out the three-year special rectification action on fire safety, did not promote the implementation of the safety production responsibility system at the local and departmental levels, did not transmit enough pressure, and failed to observe and take responsibility for the problem of regulatory vacuum and responsibility failure in fire safety caused by the shift of blame and buck passing to relevant departments and units. Comrade Sun Shougang bears important leadership responsibility for the accident and should be held accountable seriously.
In accordance with the Regulations of the CPC on Accountability, the Regulations of the CPC on Disciplinary Punishment and other relevant provisions, the Standing Committee of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection has studied and reported to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China for approval, and has decided to give Comrade Sun Shougang an intraparty warning.
