After serving as the Chinese Ambassador to Singapore for over a year, Sun Haiyan is about to resign.
According to the official website of the Chinese Embassy in Singapore, Ambassador Sun Haiyan held a departure reception at the Fulton Bay Hotel in Singapore. More than 500 representatives from the Singapore government, business community, overseas Chinese communities, media, cultural organizations, and ambassadors from various countries attended.
In her speech, Sun Haiyan reviewed her experience of getting to know Singapore and expressed that during her tenure as the Chinese Ambassador to Singapore, she comprehensively understood and promoted cooperation in all aspects between China and Singapore, made contacts and friends from all walks of life, and experienced and appreciated the exquisite scenery and rich culture of Lion City in all aspects. She said, "Although it is hard to part from the farewell, returning home is a great journey to join the Chinese path to modernization construction at the call of the motherland."
According to public information, Sun Haiyan was born in April 1972 and holds a Doctor of Law degree from Peking University. She has served as the Deputy Director of the Research Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Director of the Center for Contemporary World Studies, Director of the Information and Communication Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, and Director of the First Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. In May 2022, Sun Haiyan arrived in Singapore to take office as the Chinese Ambassador to Singapore.
