【 Summer Harvest Site 】 Knowledge Leads to the "Land" to Help Harvest Farmland Quality Improvement Demonstration Fields Increase Wheat Yield by 53.6% Quality | Farmland | Assisting Harvest Farmland
On June 9th, Nanjing, China National Radio and Television reported that last year, we paid attention to the improvement of farmland quality in Niqiao Village, Ma'an Street, Liuhe District, Nanjing. It is currently the wheat harvest season, and the 500 acre demonstration field is golden with picturesque wheat waves blowing in the wind. Experts from the Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences are conducting on-site production testing.

Ma'an Street is located in the northern part of Nanjing, at the junction of Jiangsu and Anhui. The soil in this area belongs to yellow brown soil, with a sticky and heavy texture, low organic matter content, and overall low fertility. The 500 acres of land in front of us are the "Four New" technology exhibition area for improving farmland quality, jointly developed by the Agricultural Resources and Environment Research Institute of Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the Agriculture and Rural Bureau of Liuhe District, Nanjing, with the support of special funds from the Nanjing Municipal Finance Bureau and the Nanjing Municipal Agriculture and Rural Bureau. The improvement of farmland will begin in 2021. 500 acres of land are protected around the integration of quantity, quality, and ecology of cultivated land. By combining engineering, agronomy, and agricultural machinery measures, attempts have been made to cultivate a fertile cultivation layer and nutrient balanced healthy soil.
"The highest yield is plot 14, with a yield of 490 kilograms per acre!" With the report from the production tester, the yield of this year's demonstration field has been freshly released. There are a total of 19 test plots, nearly 60 acres, with a total yield of 25907.97 kilograms and an average yield of 430 kilograms per acre, an increase of 53.6% compared to the 280 kilograms per acre before improvement.
Planter Yin Hongbao told that relying on the Agricultural Resources and Environment Research Institute of Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Yin Hongbao's 500 acre demonstration area has improved the overall land fertility by more than 0.6 levels, achieving a multi goal synergy of increasing grain production, improving soil fertility, and promoting green development. According to Luo Jia, a researcher at the Agricultural Resources and Environment Research Institute of Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences, "We mainly showcase the rapid improvement of organic matter in soil and the construction of fertile cultivation layers, efficient nutrient management technology, 4R technology for farmland ecological protection, and artificial+intelligent monitoring technology for farmland quality. Then, we will apply some new products, skills, and models. In the future, our goal is to improve the farmland quality level in this area by about one level through two to three years of effort."
The Agricultural Resources and Environment Research Institute of Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences has formed a replicable and scalable comprehensive technical system for improving farmland quality through project implementation, effectively solving the negative impact of straw returning on soil, crops, and the environment in the past. It cultivates healthy soil with fertile topsoil, balanced nutrients, and high biological activity, providing a good paradigm for improving and increasing production capacity of medium and low yield fields in the south.
