For this year's theme "Entrepreneurial Spirit: The Driving Force of the World Economy", many attendees have deep feelings and have something to say.
On the morning of the 27th, Zhang Jianping, Deputy Director of the Academic Committee of the Research Institute of the Ministry of Commerce, arrived at the main venue to attend the opening ceremony. Previously, Zhang Jianping had participated in the setting of the agenda for the Summer Davos Forum multiple times. He believes that this year's theme reflects the current world economic situation very well, and he is also working hard to find solutions. The theme actually involves two aspects, one is how to unleash entrepreneurial spirit, and the other is how to promote the development of the world economy. Entrepreneurial spirit plays an important role in economic growth. In the current global emphasis on development and innovation, in addition to having a resilient spirit and perseverance, there must also be innovative ability and awareness, which means that entrepreneurs are required to "have stricter requirements, higher difficulty, and greater challenges. Of course, this means that the achievements will be broader, more profound, and have a long-term impact on and drive social development and progress." For Chinese enterprises in an important stage of development, they can also play a more role in high-quality and sustainable development.

The Summer Davos Forum has attracted politicians, entrepreneurs, experts and scholars from all over the world to come to Tianjin to seek impetus for economic recovery. According to the International Monetary Fund, China's contribution to global growth is expected to reach about one-third in 2023.
Dr. Olaf Gross, a member of the Global Expert Network at the World Economic Forum and a mentor at the University of California, Berkeley Haas School of Business, said that this forum is a great opportunity for economic growth in China and Asia, as everyone sits together to discuss some important global issues. Entrepreneurial spirit and innovation are key factors in solving many problems, such as climate change, human health, and wealth growth. "These issues excite me, and through communication and exchange on the forum, we all face these issues with a positive attitude." Olaf Grosse has been to China multiple times, but this is his first time in Tianjin and he is very interested in Tianjin's food. He hopes to have time to taste more of it.

This summer Davos Forum revolves around six major themes: restarting growth, China in the global context, energy transformation and material supply, protecting nature and climate, consumer trends in the post pandemic era, and deployment innovation. There are over 170 sub forums.
Take the path ahead, but also look up at the starry sky. Forward thinking and predictive power are also major characteristics of the Summer Davos Forum. The "Top 10 Emerging Technologies Report 2023" released by the forum reveals the emerging technologies that will have the greatest impact on the world in the next three to five years. Including flexible batteries, generative artificial intelligence, sustainable aviation fuels, engineering bacteriophages, metaverse for improving mental health, wearable plant sensors, spatiomics, flexible neuroelectronics, sustainable computing, and artificial intelligence assisted healthcare.
In addition to bringing significant social and economic benefits, these technologies must also be disruptive, attractive to investors and researchers, and expected to be widely applied within five years. "The top ten emerging technologies will disrupt industries, promote economic growth, improve lives, and protect the planet. Of course, the prerequisite is that these technologies can be responsibly designed, expanded, and applied." Jiang Ruijie, Executive Director of the World Economic Forum and General Manager of the Fourth Industrial Revolution Center, said, "I hope this year's report can become a powerful tool for business leaders and policymakers to unlock the potential for emerging technology change and shape inclusive adoption."
Shwe yamin, a participant from Myanmar who has been working in the field of environmental protection since 2017, came to Tianjin for the first time through the Davos Forum. When talking about her first impression, she felt that the buildings in Tianjin were so tall and beautiful. "We carry out projects and provide environmental services in six major countries in Southeast Asia. The Summer Davos Forum has a wide influence, and we can also find many friends here to exchange ideas and seek opportunities for cooperation in the field of environmental protection. Environmental protection is also a common cause of all mankind."
In addition to attending the forum, the "Cultural Night" event on the evening of the 27th also sparked Shwe yamin's great interest in Tianjin culture and cuisine, and she even gave herself a Chinese name, Wang Yamin.
Meng Niu Group President Lu Minfang said that in the past few years, there have been few opportunities for face-to-face communication. This year's Summer Davos Forum has attracted many entrepreneurs to attend. Currently, the world is facing multiple challenges such as geopolitics and economy, and it is necessary to strengthen openness, cooperation, unity and stability. Participating in discussions, discussing industrial development with entrepreneurs, accepting media interviews, and during the forum, Lu Minfang was able to speak without stopping. At 2 pm on the 27th, I just finished the "Struggle for Survival in Restoring Nature" dialogue and immediately rushed to another forum. It is introduced that the newly completed and put into operation Mengniu Ningxia factory, as the world's first fully intelligent dairy factory, has achieved three 100s, with an annual production capacity of 1 million tons and an annual output value of 10 billion yuan for 100 people. The per capita efficiency is 20 times higher than that of traditional factories.
As Borg Brender, President of the World Economic Forum, said, this forum is being held at the right time. He stated that the world economy is facing multiple crises and challenges, and the international community urgently needs to strengthen global cooperation. "How to build confidence and rebuild economic growth in a divided world is a widely concerned topic among attendees."
Tianjin Element Shines
As the host city, Tianjin Element has a strong atmosphere at this summer Davos Forum.
The second floor platform of Meijiang Convention and Exhibition Center and the Tianjin Port Exhibition Area attract guests to stop. Zhao Yikun, an employee of Tianjin Port's Second Container Terminal, is explaining, "Half a day after the opening, there have been 40 to 50 visitors who are more concerned about the automation of Tianjin Port's port equipment and the use of clean energy. In terms of automation, drivers can remotely operate from the office. In terms of green energy, we have a zero carbon terminal, and all energy is green energy."
Chu Bin, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Tianjin Port Group, introduced that Tianjin Port maintains shipping and trade exchanges with more than 500 ports in more than 180 countries and regions around the world, and feels that the development of the world economy requires more tolerance and cooperation.
Another eye-catching Tianjin element at the venue is the Tiankai Higher Education Science and Technology Innovation Park. As a new force for innovation and entrepreneurship in Tianjin, which has just reached its full moon, the park has brought multiple technological innovation achievements to showcase to the attendees. "These projects are both achievements of scientific research and have strong industrial development prospects," the on-site staff introduced. In addition to local enterprises such as Tianjin Port, Cloud Account, and Haihe Biomedical Technology Group, well-known foreign-funded enterprises in Tianjin have also participated in the forum.
Dai Jian, General Manager of Danfoss Limited, said, "Global economic integration is a clear direction, and Danfoss Group will always seek new development opportunities in such an environment. This World Economic Forum is a very good opportunity for us... it allows us to have more opportunities to communicate with peers." The company is Danfoss Group's first wholly-owned subsidiary established in China in 1996 and was recognized as a "green factory" in Tianjin in 2020, becoming a shining business card of "intelligent manufacturing" in Tianjin. More than a month ago, Danfoss's global refrigeration research and development testing center with a total investment of 140 million yuan was also put into use in Wuqing District, Tianjin.
At the forum, Yu Feng, the President of Honeywell China, introduced that this year marks the 30th anniversary of Honeywell's establishment of a joint venture in Tianjin. During the forum, Honeywell's Sustainable Development Digital Innovation Center located in Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone was officially unveiled. This is another strategic layout in collaboration with Tianjin, following Honeywell's process control China operations and research and development center project.
Starting from June 27th, the Summer Davos Forum in Japan ended on the 29th. This is the seventh time that Tianjin and the Summer Davos Forum have held hands, with over 1500 guests discussing the overall trend of economic development, working together to face global issues and find solutions to solve them. Whether meeting for the first time or reuniting with old friends, the bond of summer Davos connects everyone together.
