The "Green Line" is a buffer line separating the Republic of Cyprus recognized by the international community from the "Republic of Türkiye of Northern Cyprus", which is established by the Turkish Cypriot people in the north.
The UN peacekeeping force in Cyprus warned the Türkiye authorities in Cyprus on the 17th not to "carry out unauthorized construction activities in the UN buffer zone".

According to the report, UNFICYP said in a statement: "The United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus condemns the attack on United Nations peacekeepers and the damage caused to United Nations vehicles by the Türkiye side of Cyprus this morning."
The troops stationed in Serbia stated that "endangering the safety of UN peacekeeping personnel and damaging UN property is unacceptable. According to international law, this constitutes a serious crime." The troops will fully pursue the legal responsibility of the relevant personnel.
A UN official said that Cyprus Türkiye policemen and soldiers in civilian clothes beat a peacekeeper and "pushed" more than a dozen other peacekeepers.
