According to a report by Taiwan's Central News Agency on August 17th, an explosion occurred at noon on August 17th at a university in Taiwan. Upon arrival, Taipei City police discovered that a fire broke out in a laboratory of the Department of Chemical Engineering, causing serious burns to two students and multiple minor injuries. According to the report, at 11:51 noon, Taipei City police and firefighters received a report that a fire broke out inside Taiwan University. A total of 84 firefighters, including 19 fire trucks, 5 ambulances, and 5 command vehicles, were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered that the fire was in the laboratory of the Department of Chemical Engineering at National Taiwan University and immediately pulled a water line to rescue the fire.
According to the report, the police and firefighters stated that the initial report at the scene was that aluminum chloride caught fire when it collided with hot oil in the experiment. Currently, there is no obvious fire, and the fire was brought under control at 12:25 noon. It is estimated that about 2 people were severely scalded and 10 people were lightly injured.
