Strengthen water pollution control during the rainy season in various regions, eliminate pollution during the flood season, ensure stable water quality, and take effective measures to control sewage and water quality
CCTV News: As the flood season enters, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment has issued a notice requiring all regions to take effective measures immediately to effectively prevent major water pollution incidents during the flood season and water withdrawal period, and to fully ensure the safety of drinking water source environment. To avoid the phenomenon of rainwater discharge, various regions are also strengthening water pollution control actions during the rainy season.
This is a routine rain analysis meeting. Based on the changes in rainfall conditions, Qinhuangdao City in Hebei Province is exploring the establishment of a precise control mechanism for heavy rainfall, effectively reducing the inflow of pollutants into rivers and seas on land, thereby ensuring the stability of water quality in the nearshore waters.
On August 12th, it rained heavily on Qinhuangdao, and the government dispatched multiple staff members to inspect and troubleshoot. Soon, it was discovered that there was a sewage overflow point on Donggang Road. The corresponding emergency plan was immediately activated, and more than 60 suction trucks were quickly dispatched. The sewage from three overflow points was pumped into another sewage pipeline network. Seven sewage treatment plants were operating at full capacity simultaneously, continuously increasing the sewage collection and treatment capacity to ensure stable and standard discharge of water quality. After 4 hours, these sewage overflow hazards were successfully eliminated.
It is understood that there were a total of three heavy rainfall processes in Qinhuangdao City in 2023, and no pollution incidents occurred.
In Feicheng City, Shandong Province, the rainwater and sewage diversion project along the Kangwang River is nearing completion. The local government is seizing the window period of the rainy season and is intensifying construction operations.
Rainwater and sewage diversion is a fundamental strategy to improve urban infrastructure, solve urban flood control and waterlogging, and eliminate black and odorous water bodies. Now, Feicheng City has raised 470 million yuan to investigate branch network connections and improve the construction of the main network. It is expected to build and improve the urban rainwater and sewage drainage management system within two years.
