On June 28th, Wang Yi, a member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Director of the Central Foreign Affairs Office, had a phone call with the Chief Special Advisor to the Brazilian President, Amorim, as requested. Both sides stated that they will fully implement a series of important consensus reached by the two heads of state, strengthen all-round mutually beneficial cooperation, and continuously inject strong momentum into the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Pakistan.
Both sides focused on strategic coordination on BRICS cooperation. Wang Yi stated that BRICS cooperation is the most important platform for solidarity and cooperation among developing countries, the core mechanism representing southern countries, and embodies the earnest expectations of developing countries. Faced with a century long upheaval, the world hopes to hear more voices from the BRICS and expect them to play a greater role. We have a responsibility to ensure the success of the BRICS mechanism, polish its golden signboard, and make new contributions to promoting world multipolarity, economic globalization, and democratization of international relations.
Amolin stated that under the current situation, the role of the BRICS in promoting peaceful and stable development is becoming increasingly prominent. The Pakistani side attaches great importance to China's great responsibility and influence, and is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with China, jointly support the work of the South African presidency, and successfully hold this year's BRICS summit to demonstrate BRICS unity.
Both sides also exchanged views on the current situation in Ukraine and stated that they will continue to work together to promote a political solution to the crisis.
