Zai Dula Tursong, Chairman of Xinjiang Hechuang Meixin Technology Development Co., Ltd., is looking forward to the arrival of the new CIIE. Last year, the company participated in an exhibition as a purchaser for the first time and signed a cooperation agreement worth over 7 million US dollars on site. Nowadays, Zai Dula's goal is more clear - to use the bridge of the CIIE to make oneself within reach of the world.

As the core area of the Silk Road Economic Belt, Xinjiang is a highland for China to open up to the west, and there is an urgent need for deep participation in global trade. The international sharing platform built by the China International Import Expo connects China and global resources, opening up the doors of various regions, including Xinjiang, and providing long-term impetus for promoting domestic and international dual circulation.

Smooth the source channels of cross-border e-commerce

The CIIE has given wings to cross-border e-commerce in China, promoting industry upgrading and reshaping. The holding of five consecutive sessions of the Expo, while promoting the continuous upgrading of China's consumer market, has also created opportunities for more and more niche products with national characteristics along the "the Belt and Road" to choose cross-border e-commerce channels for trial marketing in China, many of which have already gone through the upgrading path from "trial new products" to "hot money" to "big trade goods".

Xinjiang has a unique geographical advantage and is naturally an important participant in cross-border e-commerce. Since the State Council approved the establishment of the China Cross border E-commerce Comprehensive Pilot Zone in April 2020, as a leading force in general trade, enterprises of all sizes have successively settled down.

How to connect with the source channel was originally a major challenge for them. "Traditional trade mainly focuses on the import and export of products from Central Asian countries, with limited trade scope. Cross border e-commerce products mainly include fast-moving consumer goods such as mother and baby, skincare, beauty, nutrition and health, and alcoholic beverages, with a greater focus on Europe and the world." Xinjiang Hechuang Meixin is the first private cross-border e-commerce enterprise in the local area, with a huge demand for imported goods. Previously, Chairman Dula only introduced products through cooperation with distributors, making it difficult to directly connect with the source brand.

The CIIE has opened up new horizons for them. Last October, after Dula arrived in Shanghai, he tirelessly devoted himself to the work related to participating in the CIIE. The first thing is to visit companies related to Hechuang Meixin business that have already landed in Shanghai through the 2021 exhibitor list provided by the organizer, and exchange cooperation intentions face-to-face. During the exhibition, as a purchaser, he devoted himself wholeheartedly to the scene.

For many buyers like Zai Dula, the CIIE is a gathering point for world trade information. "It provides us with the opportunity to have face-to-face communication with exhibitors, learn from excellent business operations, improve product supply chains, and develop towards refinement, branding, and diversification. At the same time, it enables products to reach domestic consumers' hands as soon as possible and win the market with competitive prices."

Here, Hechuang Meixin has found more partners. In 2022, I signed a cooperation agreement with Canadian Keck Group for the first time, with an intention amount of approximately 7.4 million US dollars. During the period, the "one-stop service" of the CIIE left a deep impression on them. "The staff helped connect with the company, accompanied the negotiations, and also carried out project landing tracking, which made us feel the importance of the CIIE to us."

"Empowering" the transformation of the industrial system

During the exhibition, Zai Dula showed great ambition, running around every corner of the exhibition hall, from daily necessities to meat products, to commodities and cars, and more. "Cross border trade is a large industry, and the more information we obtain, the more helpful it is for expanding our thinking. As long as we can fill in the Xinjiang market or innovate, we are willing to actively learn about it."

For Hechuang Meixin, the CIIE can help it achieve global shopping without going abroad. More and more "CIIE exhibits" are becoming cross-border e-commerce products, entering thousands of households. Meanwhile, more local enterprises are incentivized and driven to innovate and develop products that are more suitable for the current consumer market.

Similarly, for the Urumqi Comprehensive Bonded Zone in Xinjiang, the CIIE has expanded their circle of friends in the air, sharing opportunities and creating brilliance together. In 2021, Urumqi Comprehensive Bonded Zone and Hong Kong Zhuhai Macao Company formed an alliance at the China International Import Expo and held negotiations on full cargo charter flights. With the strong support of the Department of Commerce of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the Urumqi Municipal Bureau of Commerce, the Airport Customs, and the Wuchang Customs, the "Urumqi Comprehensive Bonded Zone" full cargo charter flight made its first flight in May 2022, and as of the end of last year, it has shipped a total of 35 flights. The types of goods have increased from the initial ten to more than one hundred, achieving zero waiting for export goods to clear customs. The "Air Silk Road" from Xinjiang to Central Asia and Europe is more efficient and smooth.

Zheng Dongwen, Director of the Investment Promotion Bureau of Urumqi Comprehensive Bonded Zone, has a deep understanding of this. "The CIIE is an international and strategic platform that has surpassed or departed from pure commodity trading. Next, we will use the platform built by the CIIE to promote the service functions of the comprehensive bonded zone's outward oriented economy platform, attract more high-quality enterprises and projects to settle in, enrich the industrial system of the comprehensive bonded zone, enhance the resilience of the supply chain, and forge endogenous economic strength."

The current CIIE, as an international platform to promote the encounter, integration of industries, mutual promotion of creativity, and mutual learning of rules between China and the world market, is tightening the bond between global enterprises and the Chinese market, enhancing the connection between domestic and international industrial chains, and providing impetus for smooth domestic and international dual circulation.
