From carrying out ecological protection in the Yellow River Basin to accelerating the construction of defense lines against natural disasters, Shandong has taken multiple measures and jointly managed them to fully maintain the healthy ecology of the Yellow River Basin. At present, the Shandong section of the Yellow River Basin has preliminarily formed a Yellow River ecological green corridor that integrates flood control, ecological, economic, and social benefits.

To promote ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin, Shandong focuses on coordinated development, fully connects with the urban agglomeration in the Yellow River Basin, works together to build the Yellow River Basin Science and Technology Innovation Corridor, and jointly builds a modern industrial cooperation belt in the Yellow River Basin. In 2022, the "Yellow River Basin Pilot Free Trade Zone Alliance" initiated by Shandong Province was established. The nine provinces in the Yellow River Basin complement each other's strengths and empower each other.
