During the summer vacation, research activities mainly focus on humanistic creation, quality development, red education, and traditional Chinese culture research. However, the Pu Meng Public Welfare Study Camp specially planned by the Pudong New Area Disabled Party and Mass Service Center in conjunction with Zhan Xiang Square has taken a unique approach - allowing able-bodied people to experience the lives of disabled people, recognize colorful lives, and experience different experiences.
The public welfare experiential learning activity has been delivered to the buildings in the park, allowing young parents to take their children to work while having a place to go and a harvest. "Ten spots for a day's public welfare research and learning activity were snatched up by employees of enterprises in the park in less than 2 hours. Everyone is very interested in this fresh activity that can not only take care of children, but also learn new knowledge and broaden their horizons." Is the world of the blind all black? What kind of feeling would it be if I walk with my eyes closed? What do hearing-impaired people rely on to communicate with others? Can sign language really express all feelings At the beginning of the activity, the children who participated in the study camp expressed their confusion and confusion.
Subsequently, the course on popularizing cultural knowledge about disabled people provided children with answers and clarifications, while allowing them to explore ways and precautions to interact with different types of disabled people. They were informed to treat disabled people with a calm and gentle attitude, treating them in the same way as ordinary people, so that disabled people can feel respect and equality.
What is the password of darkness? In the Braille classroom, children touch Braille with their own hands and use a Braille board and pen to write the first sentence on thick paper. This feeling is both novel and interesting, and it also helps them understand the difficulties of being blind.
In the "Walking in the Dark" segment, volunteers lead children into the world of the blind, to understand the causes of blindness, learn about blind assistive devices, and career changes. Through grouping and pairing, the children experienced their actual feelings after losing their sight. Under the guidance of the volunteer center teacher, they learned about helping the blind and experienced how to lead them across the road, up and down stairs, guide them to sit, and cross narrow passages, achieving great success.
Sign language is a gesture language used by people with hearing impairments or inability to speak to communicate and interact with each other. In this study camp, under the guidance of professional sign language teachers, the children uncovered the mystery of sign language learning, starting from the most basic sign language skills and using daily conversations to help everyone practice.
The one-day study camp may not fully showcase the lives of people with disabilities, but it sows seeds of assistance in the hearts of children. During the interactive communication after the event, a child said, "Through this activity, I have become more aware of the value of health and the tenacity of life. In the future, I will cherish the life in front of me even more, and within my capabilities, help people with disabilities and contribute my humble efforts to social harmony."
