After the indiscriminate homicide incident in Bontang District, Gyeonggi do, South Korea, more than 10 posts similar to "homicide warnings" have appeared in many parts of the country. On the afternoon of August 4th local time, the Director of the South Korean Police Department, Yoon Hee gen, stated that a special security operation will be launched to deal with the occurrence of malignant crimes, and suspected weapon holders and abnormal actors will be screened and inspected in accordance with the law.
Special security operations refer to measures taken by the police to concentrate their police forces and equipment when it is difficult to maintain order in daily security operations. This is the first time South Korea has issued a special security operation order.
The South Korean police plan to increase the number of inspectors and make every effort to prevent the occurrence of malignant crimes such as using weapons to harm people. Yin Xigen pointed out that once a murder weapon incident occurs, frontline police officers should actively use firearms or equipment to maintain order. For police officers who use firearms to suppress crime, exemption regulations will be actively applied. The police also plan to designate 247 densely populated squares, subway stations, department stores, and other areas as key locations, and arrange more than 12000 police officers to patrol. In addition, the police also plan to deploy fully armed anti-terrorism special police officers in 13 city and district police stations in South Korea. In the event of a firearm injury incident, they will quickly be dispatched to the scene.
According to a report by the South Korean police on the 4th, since 6:00 pm local time on the 3rd, a total of 15 posts warning the location of the crime of indiscriminate attack have appeared online. On the 3rd, the South Korean police established a special task force, stating that they will severely punish those who issue "homicide warnings", and deploy a large number of police forces at the locations of the warnings to prevent the occurrence of murders. In response, Yin Xigen stated, "The police will also launch a strong response to irresponsible, indiscriminate and malicious crime warnings and unfounded false news. The police will concentrate all investigation efforts, quickly confirm and report the poster, and impose the maximum possible punishment within the legal scope."
