The person in charge stated that the overall state of China's marine ecological environment is stable and improving. Currently, China is solidly promoting key tasks such as land and sea pollution control and environmental risk prevention, and continuously strengthening marine environmental supervision.
It is reported that the overall seawater quality in China continues to improve, with Class I water quality sea areas accounting for 97.4% of the jurisdictional sea area in 2022, and overall maintaining stability; The proportion of Class I and Class II water quality areas in nearshore waters was 81.9%, an increase of 0.6 percentage points year-on-year; The overall health status of the marine ecosystem has improved, and the "unhealthy" state has been continuously eliminated since 2021.

At present, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment is focusing on the construction of a beautiful bay and deeply implementing the "14th Five Year Plan" for marine ecological environment protection. We will adhere to the problem orientation, focus on the three major sea areas of the Bohai Sea, the Yangtze River Estuary Hangzhou Bay, and the adjacent sea areas of the the Pearl River Estuary, and solidly promote 10 key tasks, including land and sea pollution control, ecological protection and restoration, and environmental risk prevention. At the same time, with a focus on the supervision of discharge outlets into the sea, we will continuously strengthen the supervision of the marine environment, and strengthen the supervision of areas such as aquaculture and marine dumping.
