Shanxi reports two recent limited space safety accidents | Space | Shanxi
On the 6th, the reporter learned from the Emergency Management Department of Shanxi Province that the Shanxi Provincial Safety Commission recently issued a notice requiring all levels and departments to deeply learn from the lessons of the two recent limited space production safety accidents, draw lessons from them, and resolutely prevent and curb similar accidents from happening again.
According to the report, on May 25th, a worker from Guangdong Nuosha Construction Group Co., Ltd., responsible for the quality assurance of equipment in Qingyu County, Taiyuan City, was trapped by hydrogen sulfide poisoning when entering the sewage tank to repair equipment in the coarse grid room. In addition, two people blindly entered the sewage tank without any protective equipment and were trapped, ultimately resulting in one person being poisoned and killed, and two people being injured.
On May 29th, at the Tunlan Water Purification Plant construction site of Xishan Coal Power Company, a subsidiary of Shanxi Coking Coal Group, located in Gujiao City, four construction workers from the outsourcing company entered the underground pipeline without any protective equipment to repair the water pipe, causing poisoning and death of mixed gases such as carbon monoxide and sulfur dioxide.
After the accident, Taiyuan City implemented relevant requirements and immediately launched a three-month special rectification of limited space safety, and conducted safety training for limited space operations in batches.
The announcement pointed out that the two consecutive accidents have exposed problems such as unclear identification of limited space risks, illegal operations, blind rescue, low quality of safety training and education, loopholes in the management of outsourcing units, and weak links in supervision and management in both companies involved.
The Shanxi Provincial Safety Commission Office requires all levels and departments to effectively strengthen their awareness of safety prevention, strengthen the identification and control of limited spaces, fully implement limited space management measures, and strengthen the management of outsourced and hazardous operations.
