Shangdaman elected as the 9th President of Singapore
The results of the Singapore presidential election were announced on the 2nd, with former State Councilor Shang Daman winning with 70.40% of the vote and being elected as the 9th President of Singapore.
On the early morning of September 2nd local time, the Singapore Election Bureau officially announced that the presidential candidate and former State Councilor Shang Daman won the first number of votes in the 2023 presidential election. The final vote count released by the Singapore Election Bureau showed that Shandaman received 1746427 votes, with a vote share of 70.4%.
The Singapore presidential election will hold a vote on the 1st. According to information released by election officer Chen Mingrui early on the 2nd, Shang Daman's competitors Huang Guosong and Chen Qinliang received 15.72% and 13.88% of the votes respectively. Approximately 2.48 million people participated in the election.
Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong subsequently issued a statement congratulating Samurai on his election as the ninth President of Singapore. The Prime Minister's Office stated that the presidential oath taking ceremony will be held on September 14th at the Presidential Palace.
Shandaman, currently 66 years old, has served as Singapore's Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance, Minister of Education, and Minister of Manpower. He served as a State Councilor in 2019.
