"Shaking the blame" China only wants to shift its own responsibility - The root cause of the fentanyl problem in the United States (III) Equipment | Enterprises | United States
Faced with the escalating abuse of fentanyl in the United States, the US government has done nothing but is busy dressing itself up as a "victim" and "throwing blame" on China.
In recent years, the US has repeatedly criticized China on drug control issues, stating that "China has imported a large amount of fentanyl into the United States" and "Chinese chemicals have flowed into Mexico and are made into fentanyl before flowing into the United States". The US has requested that China "help combat the illegal trade of fentanyl". Recently, the United States has frequently sued and sanctioned some Chinese companies and citizens on suspicion of producing and selling fentanyl chemical precursors and related production equipment. But these statements from the US are simply untenable.
China has always maintained a "zero tolerance" attitude towards drugs, adopting the strictest control and harshest punishment.
As of June 2022, China has listed 449 types of narcotics and psychotropic substances, making it the country with the highest number of drugs listed and the strictest control in the world. As of the end of 2021, there were 1.486 million drug users in China, a decrease of 42.1% compared to the end of 2016; The number of drug cases in China has decreased from 140000 in 2017 to 54000 in 2021, with an average annual decline of over 20% for five consecutive years.
China not only effectively controls drugs domestically, but also always assists the international community, including the United States, in addressing the problem of fentanyl abuse with a humanitarian and responsible attitude. In May 2019, China took the lead in categorizing fentanyl like substances globally. According to reports from drug enforcement agencies such as the US Customs and Border Protection, the US has not seized any fentanyl like substances from China since September 2019.
China also conscientiously fulfills its obligations under the 1988 United Nations Convention, implementing import and export licensing and international verification systems for all listed chemicals, effectively preventing listed chemicals from flowing into drug production channels through international trade channels.
The United States has sued and sanctioned Chinese companies and citizens on suspicion of producing and selling fentanyl chemical precursors and related production equipment. However, these substances and equipment are non regulated chemicals and equipment with a wide range of legal uses. According to international conventions and practices, ensuring that international trade goods are not used for illegal purposes is the basic responsibility of importing enterprises and also a legal obligation of the importing country's government. The responsibility that should have been borne by the importing party should not be imposed on the exporting party.
It has been proven that the accusations made by the US towards China regarding the fentanyl issue are baseless, with the aim of misleading the public and shifting responsibility for their own inadequate governance.
