Shaking Awakened by the City of Rock and Roll: The First Rock Band in Shijiazhuang's "Road to Recombination" Band | Rock and Roll | City
Shijiazhuang, which aims to build the "City of Rock and Roll", has awakened veteran players who have been away from the stage for a long time. After 23 years, Xing Di's label changed from "former lead singer of the Horizon Band" to "lead singer of the Horizon Band", although all members of the band have persisted from the beginning until now, only he himself.
"People who play rock music can never stop. I'm 58 years old and ready to return to the stage again. My hometown is going to build a 'city of rock', and I have to step forward. My original intention was to create a version for young people and lead the way, so that everyone can see that rock is not just for young people. In fact, all music lovers can play rock music." Recently, a reporter from Tide News interviewed Xing Di at the first rehearsal of the reorganization of Horizon Band.
Xing Di was once the lead singer of the first truly rock band in Shijiazhuang, and now he is using the name of the old band to prepare a new team. "The sun sets day and night, and the horizon bears one sunset after another, so it has the right to let the sun rise from here. At the end, it will start again, repeating itself, just like my rock road," Xing Di said.
Xing Di revealed that the restructured Horizon band will definitely release their own original songs, and their recent performances will mainly be a re interpretation of old songs. "The musicians are still working together, and we look forward to performing on stage during the three-month music season. Afterwards, we would like to schedule a special performance, which may take several more months to rehearse."
Witness the "Rock and Roll Past" of Shijiazhuang
Xing Di told the Chao News reporter about the "rock and roll past" it has witnessed in Shijiazhuang over the years:
"In China, the first real rock performance was in Shijiazhuang, which I witnessed with my own eyes. There were many spectators on site, and many people from Beijing also came specially." Xing Di recalled that in the 1980s, American rock bands "Chaoyang Band" and "Miserable Friday" came to China to participate in cultural exchange activities between the two countries, and the first stop was Shijiazhuang.
That performance lit up Xing Di's "rock dream", "Even if it's planting a seed in my heart, I think a few people can sing such good music. It's great! I want to play rock when I grow up."
"There is also the magazine 'I Love Rock Music', which proves that Shijiazhuang has made a great contribution to the development of Chinese rock. Xing Di added that many rock bands from all over the country have come to Shijiazhuang for interviews and introduced themselves through this magazine. The magazine also collects information about the history, music knowledge, and latest information of rock music. 'Shijiazhuang has provided a piece of' soil 'for the development of Chinese rock music. I dare say that the musicians who played rock all over the country in those years are very grateful to Shijiazhuang.'"
Later on, the band "Universal Youth Hotel" in Shijiazhuang became famous throughout the country with their song "Kill That Shijiazhuang Man", and also produced excellent original rock bands such as Relativity, Pulse, Wealth, Dizziness, Planet Striking Trees, Rotating Axis, and Leader of Dawn.
"I clearly feel that the rock bands in Shijiazhuang have more diverse styles now," Xing Di said. "In this city, the most abundant are rock musicians and enthusiasts, but there is a lack of a platform to showcase and attract more attention.".
"Rock City" is the city's business card and a new opportunity
There is a lot of attention from city celebrities, and controversies have also arisen. Since the beginning of Shijiazhuang's talk of building the "City of Rock and Roll", some netizens have raised doubts: can Shijiazhuang really rock and roll?
Xing Di wants to give his city a proper name: "As the first local band to release albums, there should be at least a dozen real rock bands established in Shijiazhuang one after another. Shijiazhuang is a young city and needs to find a suitable point to make it 'hot'. We have a cultural soil of rock, and this time the government has proposed and promoted this idea. 'Rock' as a fashionable city card in Shijiazhuang is certainly very good."
In addition to talking about his passion for rock and his expectations for building this city into a "rock city," Xing Di also talked to a trendy news reporter about the controversy surrounding social morality caused by a certain band singer's "pants off" performance during a recent commercial performance organized by "Brown Sugar Livehouse.".
"A musician is also an artist, and one of the functions of art is a sense of social responsibility." Xing Di said that as a rock musician performing on stage, one should not indulge oneself and engage in inappropriate behavior that is too arbitrary. Instead, one should restrain their behavior with social moral norms. "Because you are an artist performing in public," Xing Di said.
In Xing Di's view, "Rock City" is a platform for all musicians and a new opportunity for this city. Every rock musician should cherish it well.
"I think once the concept of 'Rock City' is proposed, it should be regarded as an eternal symbol of the city, and continuous efforts should be made to achieve it." In Xing Di's view, 'Rock City' is not just a few months of performance. The core of building a rock city lies in the rock music itself and the people. There are truly people who can make rock music, and they can produce good musicians and bands He told Chao News reporters that he has suggested to the authorities to build a neighborhood as a base for rock music, including professional recording studios, rehearsal rooms, and performance venues, to attract rock enthusiasts to come here to create and grow.
Xing Di looks forward to more rock "leaders" appearing in Shijiazhuang. "In the 1990s, after we released our records, many children playing in bands flocked to Shijiazhuang. Once we could create one or two well-known bands during the rock music season, Shijiazhuang could potentially contribute to our own growth and profitability, and attract more rock youths to become 'Shijiazhuang drifters'," Xing Di imagined.
