Today, Yichang City, Hubei Province held a press conference on the 7-8 Wufeng landslide disaster. Introduction at the press conference:
At around 16:00 on July 8th, a landslide occurred in Yueshan Village, Changleping Town, Wufeng Tujia Autonomous County, Yichang City. The landslide mass is sliding towards the construction site of Section 1 and Section 2 of Yilai Expressway, with an estimated area of 500000 cubic meters. The city and county levels immediately organized personnel to carry out on-site rescue work. As of 4am on the 9th, a total of 5 people have been rescued, and another 9 people have been lost.
This morning, two missing individuals were found at the scene, one of whom had no vital signs after rescue, and the other was still under rescue. As of now, there are still 7 missing individuals.
After the landslide occurred, Hubei Province and Yichang City attached great importance to it, and the four levels of provinces, cities, counties, and towns quickly took action, organizing forces to carry out rescue work. Relevant rescue, treatment, and aftermath work is being carried out urgently. More than 390 rescue forces including disaster experts, emergency rescue teams, fire brigades, and transportation were coordinated and organized. More than 500 equipment such as excavators, loaders, rescue vehicles, displacement detectors, and life detectors were dispatched on site. Under the scientific guidance of experts, rescue work was quickly carried out, and 6 people were rescued. The injured were quickly sent to the hospital for treatment. Considering the current instability of the landslide, we decisively relocated 17 people from 8 households in the surrounding area. At the same time, it was confirmed that all 9 missing individuals had lost contact around 16:00 on July 8th, and their mobile phone signals had disappeared at the landslide site.
