Set a new world record! The first generation of unopened iPhone was sold for $158000. First generation | Need | Phone | Value added | Auction | Apple | Unopened | iPhone
Apple's first generation iPhone was officially released in June 2007, and now it has become a precious treasure for collectors and history enthusiasts. Some original unopened iPhones have even been auctioned off at exorbitant prices.
According to reports, a factory sealed 2007 first generation iPhone began auctioning at the beginning of this month and ultimately sold for a sky high price of $158644, breaking the world record.
In February of this year, another unopened first generation iPhone was sold for $63000, but both were 8GB models, while the first generation iPhone in this auction is a 4GB model. It is said that the 4GB version of the model was only produced for a few months, so the quantity is even rarer.
In subsequent auctions, user enthusiasm for the first generation iPhone seems to have decreased. In April, an iPhone was only sold for a little over $18000, a decrease of $45000 from the auction price in February.
In fact, this rare first generation iPhone only had a $158000 auction price due to a 4GB capacity difference, and there was another 8GB sealed original iPhone in this batch, which ultimately only reached $44771.
Auction platform LCG Auctions explained that when Apple launched the first generation iPhone 16 years ago, there were two models available: 4GB and 8GB. The 8GB model became more popular, so Apple stopped producing the 4GB model a few months later and instead introduced a higher 16GB model. The sales of the 4GB model's first generation iPhone were very limited, and it is even rarer to keep it unopened until now.
