According to the Russian newspaper Businessman on June 15th, the joint military exercise codenamed "White Wolf" between Serbia and NATO countries will be held from June 14th to 30th at the "Southern" base in Serbia. Troops from Serbia, the United States, and more than a dozen other NATO member and partner countries participated in the exercise.
It is reported that since 2014, the "Platinum Wolf" exercise has been held regularly in Serbia, but last February, after the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Serbia announced the suspension of "military activities with all foreign partners". The Serbian government stated at the time that it would not impose sanctions on Russia, but "considered military neutrality policy, suspended military exercises with Eastern and Western countries.". Now the Serbian Ministry of Defense has stated that the suspension order implemented last year is still valid, with exceptions.
The report points out that the news of NATO conducting exercises in Serbia has geopolitical significance from the beginning.
Serbian Defense Minister Vuchevic said, "Serbia will not abandon military neutrality, and we will not support either side in the Ukraine conflict."
On April 22nd, Serbian soldiers held exercises at a military base near Belgrade.

The report states that the United States has its own interpretation of Serbia's decision to resume military exercises with NATO. "Serbia has chosen to become a part of the West, including further integration into the Euro-Atlantic security architecture and strengthening partnerships with NATO forces," the US Embassy in Belgrade said earlier this week. "The deeper integration, the shorter the path for Serbia to become a formal member of the European Union."
The report mentioned that when Belgrade had just confirmed conducting exercises with NATO on Serbian territory, the Kremlin made it clear that the exercises would not be out of Moscow's view. Russian presidential press secretary Peskov said, "We will closely monitor." He said that the Kremlin is aware that "Belgrade is facing terrible and unprecedented pressure," and anti Russian forces are "constantly trying to put Serbia on the side of anti Russian positions.".
After the recent visit to the United States by Serbian Chief of General Staff Mojislavic, Serbian political scientist Dragomir Angelkovic said, "President Vucic has sent a signal to the Americans that if Belgrade receives one or more acceptable solutions on the Kosovo issue, he is willing to promote cooperation in all areas, including European Atlantic integration."
The report notes that during the latest deterioration of the situation in northern Kosovo, the United States has for the first time attributed the escalation of tensions to Kosovo. Subsequently, the United States banned Kosovo from participating in the "European Defender 2023" military exercise, and Kosovo prepared for it for two years. This happened one week before the start of the Platinum Wolf exercise.
