CCTV News: Currently, regions affected by floods are scientifically classified and implementing policies to reduce agricultural disaster losses and ensure a bountiful autumn harvest.
In Jidong County, Heilongjiang Province, except for some low-lying areas with accumulated water, the drainage work for 1.55 million mu of grain crops in the county has been basically completed. At present, agricultural technicians are providing one-on-one technical guidance for different land plots and water conditions.
In 2023, a total of 8 townships in Yushu City, Jilin Province, through which the Lalin River flows, suffered from flood disasters, with most rice paddies damaged and waterlogged. To reduce losses, local agricultural technicians went deep into the front line of disaster relief and guided farmers to actively carry out self rescue.
In Wuyi County, Hebei Province, some roads and agricultural facilities of over 50000 acres of high standard farmland were washed away by floods, with over 3000 meters of roads destroyed by the floods. In recent days, more than ten excavators have been mobilized locally to accelerate the repair of high standard farmland roads.
While some areas in the Haihe and Songliao basins have experienced heavy rainfall, there have been varying degrees of drought in the northwest region of China. In Jinchang, Gansu, in order to alleviate the impact of drought on agricultural production, the local government has launched a fourth level response to drought prevention, fully ensuring the demand for agricultural irrigation water.
Now, there are still more than 40 days left until the large-scale harvest of autumn grain. To achieve a bountiful harvest of autumn grain, we still need to pass multiple checkpoints such as autumn drought, autumn floods, typhoons, frost, diseases and pests. The task of fighting disasters and achieving a bountiful harvest is still arduous.
