According to TASS on June 29th, Anna Dimofeyeva, Deputy Director of the State Policy and Management Department in the General Education Sector of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, stated that starting from September 1, 2024, primary and secondary schools across the country will offer courses on "Security Fundamentals and Defending the Motherland", and a working group is currently being formed to draft a teaching outline. Representatives from the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations and Ministry of Defense will join the working group.
According to the report, Jimofeyeva said at the National Duma Roundtable, "We have a new curriculum called 'Security Fundamentals and Defending the Motherland'. We are currently forming a working group to develop a new federal curriculum curriculum, with representatives from the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Emergency Situations also participating because we are aware of the importance and complexity of this work. We will also develop new textbooks for primary and secondary schools. That is to say, all processes will be launched simultaneously... so that children can start learning the new curriculum from September 1, 2024."
According to reports, the teaching outline of the course "Security Fundamentals and Defending the Motherland" also involves offering basic medical training courses for female students. Jimofeyeva said, "They not only need to know first aid, but also need to be able to serve as medical instructors, explaining how to give first aid to others."
Jimofeyeva pointed out that there is currently a shortage of teachers in the field of "life activity safety basics" and technology, and this problem can be solved through retraining programs.
Previously, Russian Minister of Education Sergei Kravtsov stated that he plans to pass a decision by September 2023 to add the content of social protection principles to the "Fundamentals of Life Activity Safety" course.
