According to Russian Sputnik News Agency on June 13, the White House said that US President Biden would extend the state of emergency declared and used as the legal basis for imposing sanctions on Belarus due to the "domestic political crisis in Belarus" for one year.
The report states that the US government accuses the White Russian leadership of "election fraud and persecution of political opposition.".
This state of emergency was implemented in accordance with Order No. 13405 of June 16, 2006, and expanded in accordance with Order No. 14308 of August 9, 2021.
A statement released by Biden from the White House stated, "I will extend the national emergency declared under Order 13405 for one year."
Biden claimed that in his view, the situation continues to pose an unusual and special threat to US national security and foreign policy.
