On July 26th, according to Bloomberg, a new study from Durham University shows that the proportion of African American victims in large-scale shooting incidents in the United States is too high, and shooting incidents are more common in cities with a larger African American population, indicating that structural racism may be on the rise.
The US Gun Violence Archive defines a large-scale shooting incident as an event where at least four victims have been shot dead. Since 2014, there has been a continuous surge in large-scale shooting incidents in the United States. Research shows that the more African American people there are in an American city, the greater the likelihood of large-scale shooting incidents occurring. The results of this study have been published in the Journal of the American Medical Association. Researchers say these findings have overturned people's inherent impression of large-scale shootings in the United States, as people often believe that the majority of victims of these shootings are not African Americans.

In Maryland, African American men aged 15 to 34 are 38 times more likely to be shot than white men of the same age group. The situation in Maryland is not an exception, as shooting incidents of people of color continue to occur in many parts of the United States. Even during the commemoration of Black Slave Liberation Day by the American people in June, there were frequent incidents of gun violence in various regions. On the day of the event, a large-scale shooting incident targeting black people occurred in Illinois.
