According to Agence France Presse on August 10th, the Biden administration requested Congress to provide Ukraine with over $13 billion in new military spending, citing the need to continue providing support for countries such as Ukraine.
According to reports, Saranda Young, the Director of the United States Administration for Management and Budget, stated in a letter to Congressional leaders such as Kevin McCarthy that this funding will help Ukraine and other vulnerable countries affected by Russia's unwarranted and barbaric invasion.
According to the Bureau of Administration and Budget, nearly $10 billion in the new military appropriations will be used for several activities aimed at supplementing the Ministry of Defense's material reserves and accelerating the production of new equipment.
Yang said, "The President reiterated that we will stand with Ukraine, which is defending its sovereignty, no matter how long."
She also said that this strategy "successfully united our allies and partners, and provided Ukraine with equipment to defend against Russian aggression.".
This is part of the White House's request for over $21 billion in new spending related to Ukraine on the 10th.
This funding application requires approval from Congress before it can be disbursed.
According to reports, other large funding requests include requesting an additional three months of direct budget support to Ukraine, totaling $3.3 billion. The Administration and Budget Bureau stated that this will "ensure that the Ukrainian government can continue to respond to key needs, including providing healthcare and education.".
The US Department of Defense stated in a recent statement that as of July 25th, the US has pledged to provide over $43.7 billion in security assistance to Ukraine.
