Request accountability!, Zelensky Disappointed Ukraine | Air raid shelter | Zelensky
According to Reuters, Ukrainian President Zelensky said on the 23rd that personnel adjustments will be made after an investigation into the situation of Ukrainian air raid shelters. Earlier this month, three people rushed to an air raid shelter in Kiev during the airstrike, but the shelter did not open. They died on June 1st, sparking public outrage. After the deaths of these three people, Zelensky ordered a systematic inspection of all air raid shelters.
According to reports, Zelensky said he chaired a meeting of the National Security and Defense Commission to discuss the security of the Ukrainian people, judicial reform, and Ukraine's accession to the European Union.
Zelensky said in a video posted on Telegraph software, "Overall, today we have reviewed the situation of shelters in the areas, administrative regions, and cities most threatened by the enemy."
He said, "The results are disappointing. This is almost the case across the country. In cities with significant financial resources but unfortunately, other priorities, the situation is particularly suspicious and outrageous. We will make some personnel decisions."
A statement released after the meeting stated that measures will be taken to hold officials responsible for maintaining civil defense structures accountable in areas where civil defense structures are not satisfactory.
The statement requires local authorities to prepare shelters and provide 24-hour unimpeded access to them.
Some areas, including Kiev, have performed poorly in maintaining shelters, but Kiev Mayor Vitaly Klichko and other local leaders have not been named.
The report mentioned that Ukrainian media had hinted that Klichko may be relieved of his position as the head of Kiev's military administration, rather than the mayor. The mayor is elected. Zelensky and Krichko have had multiple disputes.
