Recently, the incident of Yan'an Peiwen Experimental School's sophomore students in Baota District, Yan'an, Shaanxi Province scoring 8 points in the final exam has attracted online attention.
On the afternoon of July 27th, the reporter called the school involved to inquire about the progress of the incident. As soon as their identity and purpose were revealed, the other party hung up the phone. The reporter called again, but no one answered.
Mr. Xu, a parent of a student at the school, sent a video of the symposium to the reporter. The video showed that multiple relevant leaders attended the symposium, with many parents gathered nearby.
In the video, a deputy director of the Education and Sports Bureau of Baota District said, "The district government attaches great importance to the demands of parents and has established a joint investigation team to conduct a joint investigation at Peiwen Experimental School."
The deputy director mentioned above stated that there is a problem of illegal fees charged by the school. "The school collected tuition and accommodation fees from 1273 students in the high school department, totaling 23.5195 million yuan, and collected make-up fees of 296000 yuan. These fees do not comply with regulations. The investigation team has ordered the school to fully refund the fees collected in violation to parents, and as of July 26th, they have been fully refunded."
Regarding the issue of teaching quality, the deputy director stated: "The district education and sports bureau has decided to conduct a admonitory conversation with the principal, ordering the school to transfer the principal of the high school department and the vice principal of moral education from the high school, dismiss the academic affairs director, reorganize the leadership team of the high school department, comprehensively adjust the management of the department, allocate and strengthen management personnel, and optimize the teaching staff."
He also announced, "The school will implement free tutoring and one-on-one tutoring for students with low grades. The school needs to stabilize the teaching staff and improve their treatment. The school has been ordered to establish a sound system and improve service quality."
Mr. Xu told Jiupai News reporters that all parents have indeed refunded their money, but "there are still many issues that have not been resolved.". Therefore, after the symposium ended, parents came to the city government to seek a response.
Subsequently, the reporter called the office of the People's Government of Baota District. The staff told the reporter that they did receive a request from the relevant parents, stating that "Secretary Wang of our district committee and several leaders of the district government had a special meeting this afternoon to resolve this matter.".
The staff member said, "We should have an explanation on how this matter will progress in the future, and we will definitely solve it."
