Reaching the highest level in 22 years, breaking out late at night! Federal Reserve announces interest rate hike basis points | Federal Reserve | Level
On the 26th local time, the Federal Reserve of the United States concluded a two-day monetary policy meeting and announced a 25 basis point rate hike. This is after suspending interest rate hikes once in June, the Federal Reserve has restarted raising rates again, raising the federal funds rate target range to 5.25% -5.50%, the highest level in 22 years, in line with market expectations. Since the start of the interest rate hike cycle last year, the Federal Reserve has raised interest rates 11 times, with a cumulative increase of 525 basis points. The federal funds rate has also risen from 0% -0.25% to 5.25% -5.50%.
Analysts point out that due to recent signs of significant slowdown in US inflation and employment growth, the Federal Reserve may end this round of interest rate hikes. However, the 2% inflation target has not been achieved yet, and the hawkish policy inclination of the Federal Reserve may still exist in the near future. The Federal Reserve may not cut interest rates until at least the first half of next year.
