Putin: Developing a reliable food supply plan for Russia
On August 2 local time, according to the Kremlin, Russian President Putin elaborated Russia's principled position on ending the agreement on the export of agricultural products from Black Sea ports and lifting the blockade on Russian food and fertilizer supply in a telephone conversation with the President of Türkiye. Putin pointed out that further extension of the agreement is meaningless given the complete lack of progress in the implementation of the Russian part of the agreement. Putin reiterated that once Western countries fulfill all their obligations to Russia under the Black Sea Port Agricultural Products Export Agreement, Russia will be willing to return to the agreement.
Putin emphasized that a reliable Russian food supply plan is being developed, including a free food supply plan, taking into account the needs of the countries most in need of food. The second Russia Africa Summit recently held in St. Petersburg had substantive discussions on this issue. Russia is willing to cooperate with Türkiye and other countries concerned in this field.
When discussing the agenda of the Russia Turkey partnership, the leaders of the two countries focused on further developing economic and trade relations, implementing joint strategic projects in the energy sector, and the prospects of tourism cooperation. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the steady growth of trade volume. Both sides agree to continue contacts at all levels, including preparing for possible meetings between the leaders of the two countries.
