According to the Russian news agency, on the 4th local time, Russian President Putin signed a decree to increase the upper limit of the Russian conscription age to 30 years old starting from January 1, 2024, in order to increase the number of citizens required to serve in the compulsory military for one year.
According to a previous report by The Guardian, the Russian State Duma stated on July 25th that after the conscription bill is passed, citizens aged 18 to 30 will be conscripted for military service starting from January 1, 2024. The bill also prohibits conscripts from leaving Russia after receiving a conscription notice from the conscription office.
Previously, Russia stipulated that males aged 18 to 27 must serve in the military for one year, with two conscriptions per year. Andrei Kartapolov, Chairman of the Russian State Duma Defense Affairs Committee, once said, "The wording of the draft law has changed due to the severe population situation, which has affected the amount of resources mobilized."
