Putin is also aware!, Lukashenko: If I had known someone was going to "assassinate" him
According to Reuters and Russian Sputnik News Agency, President Lukashenko of Belarus said on August 25 that he had warned the leaders of Wagner Group, Yevgeny Prigoren and Dmitry Utkin, to pay attention to possible life threats.
Lukashenko stated that he had learned of an attempt to assassinate Prigoren and had informed the Kremlin of the matter.
He said, "The last time we flew to the UAE, I received a very serious message from a source... about the plot to assassinate Prigoren. Within two hours of my order, the Russian ambassador to the UAE was called in, and we brought him over. Through him, I conveyed this secret message about someone attempting to assassinate Prigoren to Putin and Bortnikov."
Lukashenko said that Prigoren later confirmed that he received this news from Putin.

Lukashenko also stated that Russian President Putin is not related to the plane crash that led to Prigoren's death.
"I understand Putin: he is very shrewd, very calm, and even loves to be late," Lukashenko said. "I can't imagine Putin doing this, I can't imagine it being blamed on him. It was done very poorly and unprofessional."
Kremlin spokesperson Peskov said on the 25th that the Western claim that Putin ordered the killing of Prigoren is a "complete lie".

Lukashenko also said that Wagner Group soldiers will stay in Belarus. He said that the "core" of Wagner Group remains in Belarus.
Lukashenko said, "As long as we need this unit, they will live and work with us."
In addition, according to Sputnik News Agency quoted by RIA Novosti on August 25, President Lukashenko of Belarus said that the leader of Wagner Group, Prigo Ren, had not asked him to provide security.
Lukashenko emphasized, "Directly answering this question: ensuring the safety of Prigoren itself should not be my responsibility. This is the first. Secondly, we have never discussed this issue in this way."
Lukashenko explained that he had two conversations with Prigoren regarding security issues: one during negotiations during the armed rebellion of the Wagner Group, and the other during a recent meeting.
President Bai said that both sides have never discussed the issue of ensuring the security of Prigo's term in Belarus. He said that Belarus has fulfilled all its commitments to members of the Wagner Group within its own territory.
Lukashenko said, "They have no complaints. Yesterday, I had the Chairman of the National Security Council contact them and only conveyed one message to them: we will fulfill all the agreements reached between Prigo and me."
