Putin announces: awarding national medals
According to Russian Sputnik News Agency on the 24th, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the concert commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Kursk Battle on the 23rd that the participants in the special military operation against Ukraine will be awarded national medals on the legendary Kursk land that day.
The report quoted Putin as saying, "Today, in this legendary Kursk land, we will award our heroes, soldiers, and participants in special military operations with noble national medals, who are worthy of the glory of those heroes who fought against the Nazis in the summer of 1943."
Putin said in his speech, "Today, we celebrate the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Battle of Kursk. On this occasion, I sincerely congratulate all citizens of Russia, of course, first and foremost, our dear veterans."
He pointed out that this victory will forever remain a pinnacle of great national feats. Putin emphasized, "The significance of the victory in this large-scale battle cannot be overestimated. It destroyed and weakened the Nazi attack, becoming a turning point in the entire Second World War."
The celebration was held in the town of Poneri in Kursk Oblast. The President also awarded the National Medal to the most outstanding military personnel of the 127th Motorized Infantry Division of the 5th Composite Army, who participated in the special military operation.
