Adjusting working hours, distributing heatstroke prevention and cooling items, optimizing delivery routes... In recent days, various regions have sincerely cared for and innovated forms of outdoor workers fighting in the scorching sun, taking various measures to ensure their physical health and provide them with coolness.
Since the beginning of summer, many areas have been experiencing continuous high temperatures. Outdoor workers such as construction workers, sanitation workers, and food delivery workers have braved the scorching heat and fought against the high temperatures, sticking to the front line of work. Various regions provide practical services and alleviate people's concerns, continuously optimize measures and innovate forms, adopt flexible and diverse measures for heatstroke prevention and cooling, strengthen the protection of outdoor workers, and provide them with coolness.
Adjusting working hours
Technology Assists Inspection
On the morning of July 24th, Sun Yi, a staff member of the Taoxi Town Power Supply Station of State Grid Nanyang Power Supply Company, conducted an autonomous drone inspection of the power supply line for summer protection during peak hours. The current temperature is 36 degrees Celsius and the wind speed is low, which meets the flight conditions. We are applying for takeoff inspection. "Our area belongs to the deep mountain area, with a very high coverage of trees and other vegetation. In the past, we used to patrol manually, climbing up and down was not enough, and some places were still unreachable. Especially in hot weather, it was very stuffy. Since we had drones as our assistant, we are no longer afraid of patrols in hot weather, and blind spots have been eliminated!" Sun Yi said happily.
Taoxi Town, where Sun Yi is located, is 26 kilometers away from the county seat, with a total area of 140 square kilometers, including 170000 acres of mountain slopes. Approximately 37000 residents live here. The most important task for Sun Yi and his colleagues is to always ensure the daily electricity consumption of these residents. "In order to avoid the high temperature period in summer, we usually need to get up at 4am and prepare for various tasks. We need to arrive at the site at 5am and clear the faults within half an hour, so as not to affect the daily electricity consumption of the public as much as possible." Sun Yi said that in order to cope with the high temperature weather, the company has specially equipped them with Huoxiang Zhengqi Water and Iced Mineral Water. Before going out to work in hot weather, I always bring these heatstroke prevention medicines and items with me for any unexpected needs.
In hot and scorching weather with a sharp increase in electricity consumption, non power outage is an important demand for the public, and the workload and pressure of frontline workers also increase accordingly. And Liu Gaofeng is a frontline electrician who has been engaged in live working for 5 years.
"Received instructions, let's set off immediately!" At around 12 noon, Liu Gaofeng, who had just completed his homework on site, didn't have time to rest after receiving new task instructions. He immediately braved the high temperature of nearly 40 degrees Celsius and rushed to Qiliping Township, a jurisdiction 40 kilometers away. "Our team consists of 5 people, mainly responsible for live work throughout the county. When working, we need to wear insulated clothing, gloves, and be airtight. In hot and stuffy weather, we are more likely to sweat and our clothes will get wet in a few minutes. Therefore, we usually rotate every half an hour to avoid accidents such as heatstroke," said Liu Gaofeng. He told reporters that in order to ensure personnel safety, he and his colleagues will always tighten the "safety string" and remind each other of some precautions. At the same time, to ensure the personal safety of workers, they usually carry out routine live work between 5am and 10am.
It is understood that in response to the high temperature weather, the power supply department has specially formulated an optimized work plan for high temperature weather, and timely adjusted the working hours of frontline personnel. When the temperature reaches 40 degrees Celsius or above, except for special situations that require emergency treatment for personal and property safety and public interests, outdoor operations on that day will be suspended. "We will adjust the outdoor work hours of frontline personnel according to the weather forecast issued by the meteorological department. For power supply stations or teams with conditions, it is recommended to use intelligent equipment such as drones for various operations. At the same time, we will also provide necessary heatstroke prevention and cooling supplies for frontline workers to fully ensure the safety of personnel." The relevant person in charge of the local power supply department explained.
Innovative service methods
Send heatstroke prevention items
Since May, Guangzhou has entered a high-temperature mode. On May 30th, it broke the record for the earliest orange high-temperature warning and continued to experience high temperatures. However, sanitation worker Ye Haohui's heart was full of warmth, feeling that this summer was not so sad anymore.
Ye Haohui would go to the Guigang Love Station in Yuexiu District every few days to receive the love ice cream delivered by the labor union. "Eating one under the big sun, especially quenching thirst."
It is understood that in order to care for outdoor workers who stick to their posts under high temperatures, the Guangzhou Federation of Trade Unions, in conjunction with caring enterprises, will send out caring ice cream every day from May 16th to August 7th. The recipients are outdoor workers such as couriers, food delivery drivers, sanitation workers, ride hailing drivers, truck drivers, construction workers, traffic police, etc.
Hu Shun, the person in charge of Guigang Love Post Station in Yuexiu District, introduced that the ice cream delivery activity is very popular, and 200 ice creams will be delivered in a short time. Among the recipients, sanitation workers and delivery boys are the most common. "Outdoor workers in summer really work hard, especially sanitation workers and food delivery workers. They have to wear strict clothes to prevent sun damage, and their clothes are always soaked. Every time they come to collect ice cream, they are very happy and hope to have such an activity every year."
Ye Haohui said that from June to October, he can receive heatstroke prevention and cooling fees every month. The relevant person in charge of the Guangzhou Federation of Trade Unions stated that in order to benefit more outdoor workers, the Guangzhou Federation of Trade Unions plans to launch a new batch of ice cream delivery activities from August 8th to August 31st, and will continue to send out love ice cream every day.
In addition, many trade unions in enterprises also bring coolness to outdoor workers. Some may offer cool drinks to drivers and remind them to pay attention to rest and balance work and rest in the scorching summer; Some organizations volunteer to bring cool and refreshing products to their doorstep, such as herbal tea, mung bean soup, small fans, and other heatstroke prevention and cooling items to the outdoor workplace where workers work.
Under the scorching heat, an ice cream, a bottle of herbal tea, a bowl of mung bean soup, a box of Huoxiang Zhengqi water... brought a hint of coolness and sweetness to the hearts of outdoor workers. Guangzhou also innovates service methods to provide outdoor workers with places to drink, eat, and rest. Even on hot days, outdoor workers have ways to cope.
Optimize delivery scope
Reduce exposure time
In summer, Chongqing is scorching with scorching sun. After noon, delivery person Zhu Guochuan parked his car and went to the new labor station in Baiguo Road Community, Yubei District, Chongqing to rest, charging his phone and relaxing his body.
"In the afternoon, there were few deliveries and the weather was hot. Come here to take a break," Zhu Guochuan laughed. In the past, his home was several kilometers away and it was inconvenient to travel back and forth, so he had to sit by the roadside and the heat wave hit. Now, he has become a frequent guest at the post station, able to meet various needs such as rest, charging, and drinking water.
To care for outdoor workers, the Yubei District Federation of Trade Unions actively builds new formats of worker stations, worker harbors, and other rest areas, creating 202 outdoor worker service stations and forming a "assistance circle" of two kilometers and one rest supply station.
"The service station not only helps reduce fatigue for everyone, but also increases knowledge for everyone." Huang Mei, Secretary of the Party Group and Executive Vice Chairman of the Yubei District Federation of Trade Unions, introduced that the station holds monthly inclusive activities, such as health knowledge lectures, psychological counseling, etc., which are close to the lives of workers and help them improve their quality of life.
At the same time, the Yubei District Federation of Trade Unions has launched a special action to protect delivery riders from high-temperature operations. They have negotiated with platform enterprises to urge them to optimize the distribution scope, reduce the difficulty of distribution, and relax the delivery time, achieving a regular "distribution circle" within 5 kilometers.
Lao Zhao is a delivery person on Yonghui Life Platform. He used to deliver goods across regions and didn't have time to rest during the day. "This summer has been different. The platform rules have been changed, and each order arrangement is within 3 kilometers. I am only responsible for this area, and the system also intelligently classifies a direction for more convenient delivery," said Lao Zhao.
The person in charge of Yonghui Life in Yubei District stated that after receiving the union's rationalization suggestions, the platform immediately responded by optimizing the delivery route, allowing delivery personnel to deliver more orders and shorter delivery times, reducing exposure time under the scorching sun, and extending the delivery time to 1 hour, making delivery personnel more confident.
"This place is good. Wherever we go, we can rest, blow the cool breeze, and the staff can help us." Lao Zhao drank a mouthful of water, pointed to the air conditioner, and said with a smile, "I am serving others, and others are also helping me. I feel very happy."
