Protests and demonstrations by people in multiple parts of Germany, NATO holds the "largest scale" air military exercise in Pomory | Peace | Military Exercise
On the 17th local time, about 700 peace activists from Berlin, Brandenburg, Mecklenburg Former Pomery, Saxony, and Saxony Anhalt in Germany gathered in Brandenburg on the banks of the Havel River to protest against large-scale NATO military exercises being conducted in German airspace.
According to the organizers, the reason for choosing to hold a protest on June 17th, also known as "German Federal Defense Force Day", is because the German Federal Defense Force conducted military displays at 10 locations throughout the country on that day, in order to gain more support from the public. The theme of this protest is "Refusing fighter jets to fly over our heads and refusing to promote death.". The slogans held by the protesters include "Oppose Air Guard 2023", "Peace, heating, and bread, no weapons, war, and death", "Stop supplying weapons", and so on.
Protesters believe that the largest ever NATO air military exercise conducted in German airspace from June 12th to 23rd will only escalate the already tense regional conflict situation. Compared with the meaningless arms race, the top priority is to stop providing weapons to Ukraine and do everything possible to find a diplomatic solution to the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
