The Ukrainian military has started using new types of suicide unmanned boats that can carry more explosives.
Ukraine acknowledges responsibility for the July 17th attack on the Crimean Bridge and used the experimental new suicide unmanned boat "sea baby" in the incident. On August 15th, Vasil Maliuk, Director of the Ukrainian National Security Agency, stated that the unmanned boats used by Ukraine in its attack on the Crimean Bridge were independently developed by Ukraine.
On August 17th, the US military website "Warzone" published an article stating that the "sea baby" was the latest type of weapon and equipment in the Ukrainian military, carrying explosives weighing up to 850 kilograms. These unmanned boats carrying explosives have become increasingly popular weapons for the Ukrainian army in complex battles around the Black Sea.
The relevant video released by the Ukrainian National Security Agency shows the moment when the "sea baby" drone ship collides with a concrete pier of the bridge. The report states that this drone ship carried "up to 850 kilograms of explosives," which is larger than the payload of any other known Ukrainian unmanned vessel.
Vasil Maliuk stated that unmanned boats were manufactured locally in Ukraine without Western involvement, and that the weapon is a unique invention of the Ukrainian security sector, with no private companies involved. Maliuk said, "We have recently successfully hit the Crimean Bridge and the landing ships' Olengorsky Gorniak 'and' Sig 'oil tankers with these unmanned boats."
According to reports, Ukraine will increasingly use these unmanned boats to strike Russian strategic targets. Ukrainian officials are increasingly openly stating that they are involved in different types of unmanned boat attacks targeting Russian targets.
From the images released by Ukraine, it can be seen that the new suicide unmanned boat "Sea Baby" follows the design of early Ukrainian suicide unmanned boats, adopts a low visibility gray coating, is equipped with optical sensors and satellite communication equipment, can be remotely controlled, and can reach a speed of about 80 kilometers per hour, with good maneuverability.
