Pomegranate Blossoms and Seeds Together: The Green Development Path of Ma'anshan Forest Farm with Forest Coverage from Less than 20% to 95.2%
CCTV News: Ma'anshan Forest Farm, located in Karaqin Banner, Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, has undergone several generations of forestry efforts. From less than 20% forest coverage at the beginning of its construction to 95.2% today, the once barren mountains and barren ridges have become the green ocean of today.
Ma'anshan Forest Farm, founded in 1962, is located in the middle and south of Kharqin Banner, at the east foot of Qilaotu Mountain in Yanshan Mountains. It is an ecological forest farm focusing on management and protection. Ma'anshan National Forest Park, known as "Little Mount Huangshan beyond the Great Wall", is located within the jurisdiction of the forest farm.
Chu Guangming, the director of Ma'anshan Forest Farm, introduced that in the recent germplasm resource census, a national second level protected plant - the ribbon grass - was discovered at Ma'anshan Forest Farm. According to expert analysis, the discovery of ribbon grass here precisely indicates that the improvement and protection of the ecological environment in the forest farm have achieved results.
The improvement of the ecological environment also brings new opportunities for local economic development. Chu Guangming stated that the Ma'anshan Forest Farm will develop ecological restoration and use the understory economy as a breakthrough point to develop understory planting, understory aquaculture, fruit industry, and processing of forest by-products, striving to improve the efficiency of the forest. In addition, the projects of picking mushrooms, hazelnuts, pine nuts and other wild specialties in the forest also bring new benefits to the local people.
As the second generation of Lin, Chu Guangming has a deep affection for the forest farm. Under the perseverance of generations of forestry professionals like Chuguang, Ma'anshan Forest Farm has built a green ecological security barrier to prevent wind and sand in the northern region of China, turning barren mountains and barren hills into green oceans.
