Fake recruitment targeting college students

"With just a few fingers and typing on the keyboard, you can earn a decent income and work freely..." Shortly after graduating from university, Huang discovered a job posting while browsing a recruitment website and immediately contacted the "recruiting unit". After a brief interview, he successfully "joined" a company in Guangdong.
After joining the company, Huang operates five or six mobile phones every day, repeatedly sends fixed scripts, and promotes investment as a "teacher" in the WeChat group as a manager, guiding customers to participate in "company" training and invest funds. I received a salary of 8000 yuan in the first month, and Huang was very satisfied with the job.
After a period of time, Huang realized that the "language" provided by the company was not true, and he realized that his behavior was fraud and could be illegal. However, Huang, who harbored a sense of luck, chose to continue his work due to his interests. It was not until the company announced its dissolution and moved abroad that Huang ended his job.
"The 'company' where Huang is located is actually a multinational telecommunications network fraud group, recruiting more than 40 people, including six college students including Huang, to engage in fraud activities. Under the pretext of making money through investment, the group guides victims to invest on specific websites. The group manipulates and fraudulently obtains property in the background, with a fraud amount exceeding 140 million yuan." Yang Hongqing, the presiding judge of the Criminal Trial Division of the Xichong County People's Court in Sichuan Province, introduced the case. Huang ultimately paid a heavy price for this and was sentenced to 5 years and 8 months in prison.
"Scammer groups are often packaged as financial, securities, information service companies, etc., luring college students to submit resumes through online recruitment channels." Yang Hongqing introduced that with the continuous increase in domestic efforts to crack down on telecommunications network fraud, illegal elements have rapidly expanded their dens overseas, forming telecommunications fraud parks in some countries and regions, which have been packaged as "industrial parks" and "technology parks".
Criminals use the guise of "high salaries, low thresholds, flexible working hours", "charter flights, free meals and accommodation" and other overseas "high salary recruitment" to lure college graduates who have just entered society into participating in cross-border telecommunications and network fraud criminal activities.
Yang Hongqing said that especially during the graduation season, college graduates are eager to find jobs, lack social experience, and have weak awareness of security, legal awareness, and screening ability. When they encounter criminals using "high paying jobs" as bait, they think they are facing "good jobs", but in reality, they fall into traps and become "tools" of online criminal gangs.
"In the process of job search, it is necessary to maintain a clear mind, further improve one's legal awareness and risk prevention awareness, seek formal employment channels, carefully select job information, not be overwhelmed by immediate interests, and avoid falling into job traps. When working abroad, one must carefully choose a formal labor service company, sign standardized contracts, and not be blinded by 'high salaries'." Yang Hongqing reminds.
Trapped deeper and deeper under temptation
"Forwarding scripts, praising teachers, and playing the role of a water army" to deceive trust and engage in fraud under the pretext of making money through investment
After graduating from a college in Tongchuan City, Shaanxi Province, Liu submitted his resume to a "financial company" through an online platform. After an interview, he was quickly hired.
"The company is preparing to develop business overseas and receive better treatment," Liu expressed great interest. After learning about airfare reimbursement and free overseas team building, he decided to go abroad.
Liu said that after leaving the country, his passport was taken away and his workplace was in the "industrial park". There were all prefabricated houses inside, and the environment was dirty and messy. There were also people standing guard with guns at the entrance, so he suspected that what was being done here was illegal. After receiving language training, Liu confirmed that this was fraudulent behavior. But under the temptation of high income, Liu still chose to work here.
"The fraud gang established a WeChat group, in which criminals played roles such as investment guides, account opening specialists, and customers, and used several WeChat signals to post stock investment information according to language." Shen Juan, the prosecutor in charge of the case and the director of the Second Prosecutor's Department of the People's Procuratorate of Tinghu District, Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province, introduced that criminals played the role of customers and posted a language "following the teacher can make money" in the WeChat group, sending screenshots of their false profits to the group, and enticing victims to download the platform and make investments. Criminal gangs manipulate platform backend data to create the illusion of investment losses for victims, in order to control and defraud their property.
Tight organization and clear division of labor are characteristics of financial telecommunications network fraud. "The criminal gang is divided into four levels: boss, director, team leader, and team members. Each level has clear division of labor, with the director responsible for personnel training and management, the team leader responsible for impersonating investment guides and managing team members, and the team members responsible for impersonating investment assistants and investors." Shen Juan said.
After completing a fraud cycle and returning to China, Liu was tempted by high income and went abroad for the second time to participate in fraud, serving as the leader of the fraud gang. Before committing fraud, group members should post on their social media and position Liu as a successful business person. Group members should cooperate with each other, share language, praise teachers, and play the role of a water soldier. "It's all to deceive the only real customer in the group," Liu admitted.
In just six months, Liu participated in fraud with a total amount of over 930000 yuan. "Liu used telecommunications network technology to commit fraud overseas, with a particularly large amount of money involved. His behavior constitutes the crime of fraud," Shen Juan said. After the court's trial, he was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison and fined RMB 90000.

Continuously strengthening punishment efforts

In recent years, political and legal authorities have always punished telecommunications network fraud crimes strictly in accordance with the law and cracked down on them in depth throughout the entire chain. In the cross-border telecommunications network fraud case involving 98 people, Cheng believed that overseas was a blind spot in the fight against telecommunications fraud. He recruited nearly a hundred people from China to establish a fraud group in a Southeast Asian country, using false investment platforms to specifically target mainland residents for telecommunications network fraud under the guise of investment and financial management. At the same time, the fraud group lured 15 newly graduated college students into engaging in telecommunications network fraud activities through online recruitment.
"As of the time of the incident, the fraud group had fraudulently obtained more than RMB 41 million from 155 victims." Feng Yao, the prosecutor in charge of the case and the prosecutor of the People's Procuratorate of Wuxing District, Huzhou City, Zhejiang Province, introduced that the court sentenced 98 defendants, including Cheng, to imprisonment ranging from 1 year to 15 years and fines for the crime of fraud, effectively deterring the illegal activities of telecommunications and network fraud.
To crack down on telecommunications network fraud crimes, it is necessary to combine prevention and control measures.
