The French police shot and killed a 17-year-old boy who did not comply with parking orders, causing riots.
Recently, a 17-year-old boy in the suburbs of Paris, the capital of France, was shot and killed by police for failing to comply with parking orders, sparking public anger. Protesters clashed with the police.
According to Al Jazeera, prosecutors reported that earlier on the 27th, the teenager was driving a rented car in the western suburbs of Paris when the police stopped him for violating several road rules.
A video confirmed by Agence France Presse on social media shows two police officers attempting to stop the car. One of the police officers pointed a weapon at the teenager in the car through the window and fired at him at close range while he was driving. The car crashed after moving several tens of meters. Emergency personnel were on the scene, but the young man unfortunately died.
After the incident, local residents held protests outside the police station. According to videos released by local media, the tension between protesters and police intensified on the evening of the 27th. The protesters set fire, destroyed bus stations, and threw firecrackers at the police, who responded with tear gas. The authorities stated that 9 people were arrested during the conflict.

A video posted by local media on social media shows that protests have also occurred in the city center of Paris, 11 kilometers away from the incident site.
The local prosecutor's office stated that the police officer accused of shooting at the driver has been arrested for murder. French Interior Minister Darmanin told the French National Assembly that two police officers involved in the case are being questioned. He also stated that the images posted on social media were "extremely shocking".
The police stated in a statement that the lives of the police officers at the scene were in danger at the time of the incident, as the involved youths threatened to crush them. The young lawyer's team issued a statement refuting the police's statement. One of the team's lawyers, Yasin Buzlu, told local media that although all parties need to wait for the investigation results, the image "clearly shows a police officer cold-blooded killing a young person. This is far from any form of legal defense.". He added that the family of the young man has filed a complaint, accusing the police of "lying" that the car attempted to knock down the police.
According to reports, France also experienced police shooting of civilians during traffic congestion in 2022, resulting in 13 deaths, setting a new historical high. In 2021, three people in France were shot dead by police for refusing to comply with traffic rules, and in 2020, two people died. This shooting incident is the second of its kind this year.
