Poland: Negotiations can only take place at a summit after the conflict ends | NATO | Poland
On July 9th local time, Polish Defense Minister Bouszczak stated in a media interview before the NATO summit that the first focus of this summit is to strengthen the defensive potential of the alliance's eastern wing. Another important point is to expand the scale of the Allied highly vigilant forces. One of the most important goals of the summit remains to mobilize countries to increase defense spending - accounting for 2% of GDP. When asked if they expected to make a decision on Ukraine's NATO membership at the summit, the Polish Minister of Defense replied, "The criteria for joining NATO are clear. We believe that it is in the interests of Poland and Europe to include Ukraine in the alliance structure as soon as possible. However, we realize that negotiations on Ukraine's accession can only take place after the conflict ends.".
