Poland issues a warning about the Wagner incident | Belarus | Poland
According to Reuters on July 27th, the Polish Minister of Internal Affairs said on July 27th that if any serious incidents involving the Wagner Group occur along the border between Belarus and Poland, Lithuania, and Latvia, these three countries may jointly decide to close their borders with Belarus.
According to reports, since Wagner's mercenaries began training Belarusian special forces a few miles away from the Polish White border, NATO member Poland decided on July 19 to move its troops eastward.
Two days later, Russian President Putin accused Poland of having territorial ambitions towards Belarus and said that any aggression against Belarus would be seen as an attack on Russia.
According to reports, Polish Minister of Internal Affairs Marius Kaminsky said, "There is no doubt that if any serious incidents involving the Wagner Group occur along the border between NATO and EU countries such as Poland, Lithuania, or Latvia, we will undoubtedly take action together."
He said, "I don't rule out that if we think this is the right answer, we will completely isolate Belarus." Poland denies any territorial ambitions towards Belarus.
According to the report, Poland has always been an important refuge for opponents of Belarusian President Lukashenka, and Warsaw has also become one of the strongest supporters in Kiev since the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine conflict in 2022.
Since February this year, due to the deteriorating relationship between the two countries, road traffic between Poland and Belarus has been restricted.
Poland also accused Belarus of artificially creating a refugee crisis at the border. Poland stated that Belarus transported refugees by plane from the Middle East and Africa to the Polish White border and attempted to drive them to the Polish side. Belarus has repeatedly denied this.
