Pew released a survey targeting 23 respondents: over 80% of respondents believe that the United States intervenes in foreign affairs | Pew Research Center | United States
The Pew Research Center, an American polling agency, released a survey report on the 27th. The survey involves overall views on the United States, evaluations of Biden, and opinions on who is the world's largest economy in the United States and China.
On the 28th, American media cited the above-mentioned report as stating that among the 23 countries surveyed, 41% of the population believed that the United States was the world's largest economic power with a median value. Among them, South Korea is the country that is most optimistic about the US economy, with 83% of respondents saying that the US has the world's largest economic strength. Other countries that are more optimistic about the US economy include Japan, Israel, Poland, and others. A median of 33% of respondents believe that the status of the world's largest economic power belongs to China, with Italy holding the highest proportion, reaching 55%. Some European countries, including Greece, Spain, the Netherlands, and Germany, also believe that China's economic strength is stronger than the United States, and 50% of Australians see it the same way.
Regarding the role played by the United States in international affairs, among the 23 countries surveyed, the vast majority of people believe that the United States will intervene in the affairs of other countries, with a median of 82% believing that the United States will intervene or excessively interfere in the affairs of other countries. In almost all the surveyed European countries, this proportion is higher than 80%. Even in South Africa and Indonesia, where the proportion of respondents holding this view is the lowest, 63% of respondents believe so. 50% of people believe that the United States does not consider their interests very much or at all.
On the 28th, Lu Xiang, an expert on American issues at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, told Global Times reporters that according to Pew's survey on the world's largest economy, the public's answers generally have expectations. As a long-standing ally of the United States, countries such as Japan and South Korea naturally expect the United States to always maintain its position as the world's number one power. Countries such as Italy, Spain, Greece, and Germany believe that China is the world's largest economy, which reflects their expectation that China can play a greater role in the global economy and make the world economy more stable. On the other hand, it also proves that these European countries have truly felt economic benefits in their interactions with China. As for the vast majority of the public's belief that the United States interferes in the affairs of other countries, this is already an open fact.
