Peru regards China as a valuable partner (Ambassador said) Support | Peru | Partner
Peru's development since independence has been supported by strategic partners for over 200 years, including its deep relationship with the People's Republic of China. Both Peru and China are ancient civilizations located on both sides of the Pacific Ocean. Both Peru and China are committed to achieving development and progress in this world of economic globalization.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Peru and China, as well as the 52nd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The connection between the peoples of China and Peru can be traced back to even more ancient times. In the 19th century, early Chinese immigrants arrived in Peru and integrated with the Peruvian people, contributing to the construction of Peruvian national characteristics. About 10% of Peru's population has Chinese ancestry.
China is the main export destination and import source country of Peru, and Peru is the second largest investment destination for China in Latin America. The two countries are also partners in jointly building the "the Belt and Road". Currently, China and Peru are actively promoting negotiations on upgrading the free trade agreement, which is the key to comprehensively expanding bilateral economic and trade cooperation. Peru will host the 2024 APEC Leaders' Informal Meeting and looks forward to China's active participation in related activities.
Peru regards China as a valuable partner, with highly complementary economies and enormous potential for cooperation in areas such as technological innovation, digital economy, and industry. Peru is optimistic about China's technological development, with about 200 Chinese companies active in various economic sectors.
China plays an important role on the international stage and plays a leading role in addressing global issues of common concern to developing countries. The global development initiative, global security initiative and global civilization initiative proposed by China and the "the Belt and Road" initiative proposed 10 years ago have expanded the possibility of global practical cooperation.
The cooperation between Peru and China presents a comprehensive, multi-level, and wide-ranging development pattern, and the Peru China relationship can be regarded as a model of the Latin American China relationship. As the Peruvian Ambassador to China, I will continue to be committed to deepening contacts in various fields between Peru and China, not only at the national level, but also at the local level to promote cooperation. The Peruvian Embassy in China will strive to provide support for the establishment of stable relations between the business communities of the two countries, promote more Peruvian enterprises to enter the Chinese market, and also help more Chinese enterprises to enter the Peruvian market.
